Ankle sprains are common injuries that occur when the foot twists or turns beyond its normal range of movement, causing the ligaments of the ankle to overstretch or tear. Tears can range from Grade 1 non surgical to Grade 3 which does require surgery and a good plan of care. Physical therapy is great for injury prevention when dealing with sports that include running and jumping.

Some of the things to consider after a Ankle sprain:

  • Cryotherapy
  • Immobilization or Splinting
  •  Passive Range of Motion
  • Manual Therapy or Soft Tissue
  • Therapeutic exercises
  • Laser and Ultrasound
